چکیده

Methods We compared SSFP four chamber view images (20 phases per cycle protocol) between 11 surgically-confirmed CP patients and 11 controls. We deconvoluted the mechanics of the septal bounce and correlated it with periods of the cardiac cycle. To demonstrate that the septal bounce is caused by the interaction between the tricuspid inflow and septum we constructed a parameter called the septal flow ratio equal with the ratio between the tricuspid inflow directed towards the interventricular septum and the total tricuspid inflow at peak rapid ventricular filling, as seen in the Figure. Assuming that the tricuspid inflow is perpendicular on the tricuspid valve annulus plane, the dark rectangles represent the inflow impacting the septum while the white rectangles represent the inflow impacting the right ventricular free wall, with their sum representing the total inflow. Left panels are 3 examples of CP while on the right are 3 normal patients.

A semi-automatic method for quantification of respiratory variation in early mitral inflow velocity using real time phase contrast cardiac magnetic resonance - normal values and clinical feasibility

Background Echocardiography has shown that patients with constrictive pericarditis or hemodynamically significant pericardial effusion show an increased respiratory variation in early transmitral inflow velocity. The methodology for quantification of respiratory variation in early transmitral inflow velocity using real time phase contrast (RT-PC) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) images i...

Comprehensive characterization of constrictive pericarditis using multiparametric CMR.

Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is uniquely placed to characterize constrictive pericarditis. CMR comprehensively defines pericardial and myocardial anatomy as well as their structural and functional relationship. Indeed, through evaluation of regional myocardial deformation, ventricular interaction and venous return, CMR can accurately assess the physiological consequences of pericardial cons...

Restrictive Cardiomyopathies: The Importance of Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging Modalities in Diagnosis and Treatment—A Systematic Review

Restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) is the least common among cardiomyopathies. It can be idiopathic, familial, or secondary to systematic disorders. Marked increase in left and/or right ventricular filling pressures causes symptoms and signs of congestive heart failure. Electrocardiographic findings are nonspecific and include atrioventricular conduction and QRS complex abnormalities and supraven...

Can CMR be the new ‘gold standard’ for constrictive pericarditis?

Historically, the cardiac catheterization has been the ‘gold standard’for the evaluation and confirmation of constrictive pericarditis. Noninvasive CMR should have a potential role to be equivalent or even superior given its abiltiy to detect both the anatomic and physiologic impact of an abnormal pericardium. Via RF tissue-tagging, we show that CMR could be a contender for a new non-invasive s...

Late onset radiation-induced constrictive pericarditis and cardiomyopathy after radiotherapy

INTRODUCTION Radiation-induced heart disease (RIHD) is a serious side effect of cancer treatment, including coronary artery disease, valvular cardiac dysfunction, cardiomyopathy, aortopathy, and chronic constrictive pericarditis. Herein, this case we present was diagnosed as radiation-induced constrictive pericarditis and cardiomyopathy by means of cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) and transthor...
